What We're Looking For

We're hiring a Director, Business Development to spearhead sales strategies and drive growth in North America. In this role, you'll lead business development efforts while actively selling our products/services. As a growing startup, hands-on leadership is vital, so in the first year, you'll lead initiatives and contribute directly to sales. This dual responsibility offers a deep understanding of our market, products, and customers, fostering a high-performing sales culture. The ideal candidate has a strong track record in software sales, leadership skills, and experience in startup environments. Join us in achieving our ambitious goal of doubling annual revenue.

What You'll Do

Drive Revenue Growth

  • Aim to double customer base and Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR).
  • Play a hands-on role in driving sales efforts, actively contributing to our growth trajectory.
  • Evaluate sales processes to identify bottlenecks and improve sales conversion rates.
  • Establish and inform qualified lead criteria in partnership with the Marketing team. 
  • Inform the creation of detailed buyer personas in partnership with the Marketing team.
  • Streamline the demo process to ensure it meets customer needs and supports sales funnel progression. 
  • Create and implement a lead nurturing strategy and/or process 

Lead and Develop Sales Teams

  • Lead and grow a high-performing sales team, including recruiting, hiring, training, coaching and mentoring of sales representatives. 
  • Implement people performance tracking systems, which offers feedback for team members and inspires high performance.
  • Develop comprehensive training for the sales team, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively deliver product demos and address objections.  

Optimize Client Retention and Revenue

  • Gather regular client feedback to identify areas for service improvement.
  • Develop customized client retention strategies and/or processes in collaboration with Customer Success team. 

Track and Analyze Performance

  • Drive sales pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and reporting, providing regular updates to the executive team and stakeholders.
  • Implement analytics tools to provide real-time insights into sales performance.
  • Analyze conversion rates at each stage of the sales funnel and identify areas of improvement based on data-driven insights.  

What You'll Bring

  • Extensive B2B software sales experience.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Strong track record of relationship building that generates sales success.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale and optimize sales operations through strategic planning and execution.
  • Experience in identifying and capitalizing on strategic business development opportunities.
  • Collaboration skills to align sales strategies with company objectives.
  • 7+ years of Business Development experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred; relevant certifications advantageous. Experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and construction industries would be considered an asset. 
  • Applicant must be both eligible to work in and located in Canada.
